Barcelona midfielder doubtful to start against Bayern Munich – report

Dani Olmo’s absence from Barcelona’s match against Sevilla may have an impact on his chances of starting against Bayern Munich, reports SPORT

Given that muscle injuries require careful handling, the coaching staff is likely to ease him back into action slowly and the best scenario would be for him to play a part of the Bayern Munich game, and then potentially start in El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Despite not playing any minutes against Sevilla, this does not completely rule Olmo out for the upcoming crucial matches. The coaching team recognises his significant influence on the squad and will closely monitor his progress in training.

Depending on how well he performs during these sessions, Olmo’s playing time against Bayern and Real Madrid will be adjusted accordingly.

There are more problems at Barcelona

Muscle injuries are tricky, and caution is essential to avoid aggravating them.

In fact, the outlet suggests that since Olmo did not play against Sevilla, it is unlikely for him to start against Bayern on Wednesday. However, he may still feature for a few minutes in that game.

Options are handy

When fully fit, Olmo is a crucial part of Hansi Flick’s system, providing versatility and creativity. His presence on the pitch, alongside players like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Pedri, and Marc Casado, gives Barça multiple attacking options.

Even though the team has managed to maintain a high level of performance without him, his ability to disrupt opposition defences and his goal-scoring potential will be essential in challenging teams like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Additionally, Flick’s ability to maintain high standards across the entire squad is evident, with players such as Pablo Torre stepping up and contributing, like his two late.

This highlights the depth and quality in the Barcelona squad, giving Flick several options to approach these crucial fixtures, even as Olmo works his way back to full fitness.
